F. L. (Bud) Suddath and Frances (Lee) Gafford Suddath and Fellowship Award

The F. L. (Bud) Suddath and Frances (Lee) Gafford Suddath and Fellowship Award has been established by the family, friends, and colleagues of the Suddaths to stimulate graduate research in the fields of biology, biochemistry, and biomedical engineering. The award, of up to $1,000 in value, is given annually to a doctoral student who has demonstrated significant research achievement in the field of biology, biochemistry, or biomedical engineering.

Robert M. Nerem International Travel Award

This award provides graduate students or postdocs from an IBB-affiliated lab the opportunity to conduct research in a lab in another country during the summer semester. Selected applicant(s) will receive up to $4,000 to support travel abroad, with preference given to those who will learn new tools or techniques during their experience.

  • All funding is for international, not domestic travel. Funding will be provided via reimbursement only.
  • Application window mid-January through late February.

Nerem Conference Travel Award

The Nerem Conference Travel Award is an opportunity for graduate students and postdocs from IBB-affiliated labs to attend a domestic or international conference. Up to two recipients are selected per semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer), with each receiving up to $500 in support. 

IBB Interdisciplinary Above and Beyond Honors

The IBB Above and Beyond Honors are given annually to IBB community members that demonstrate exemplary service to IBB and contribute to its collaborative and innovative environment.
